On Sunday evening the Oscar for Best International Film was, predictably, won by the outstanding German-language ‘All Quiet on the Front’. The film had already triumphed at the BAFTAs and looks set to pick up more gongs at the Oscars tonight.
In the Best International Film category, Edward Berger’s movie triumphed over ‘Argentina, 1985′, ‘Close’, ‘EO’ and ‘The Quiet Girl’.
‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ is an adaptation by Erich Maria Remarque that exposes the ordeals and anguish of a young German soldier on the Western Front during the First World War.
