Veterans Day, previously known as Armistice Day, commemorates the end of World War I in 1918. It is a day to pay tribute to those who have served in the armed forces. November 11th is now recognized as one of the eleven federal holidays celebrated in the United States.

While for a period during the 1970s, the federal holiday was observed on the fourth Monday in October, by 1978, it had reverted to the original date. This year, Veterans Day falls on Saturday, 11 November. As a federal holiday, government workers observed the holiday on Friday, 10 November.

Commercial banks rely on the Federal Reserve, and the US central bank has “Federal Reserve Banks and Branches will be open the preceding Friday.”

Chase

JP Morgan Chase has also announced that “since Veterans Day falls on a Saturday in 2023, it will not be observed.” However, while financial transactions will still be made, branches will likely be closed.

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo will close down all of its branches on Saturday. In many cities, Wells Fargo’s branches are open until noon on Saturdays.

Bank of America

Bank of America has not published information as to whether or not their branches will be open on Saturday. Your best bet will be to call ahead before making the trip or visit your local branch by Thursday to avoid any confusion or delays due to the holiday.

Citi Bank

Citi Bank has not announced whether their branches will be open on Saturday. Best to call before heading out.
