Bank branches opening and closing in January: Wells Fargo, US Bank, Chase, Bank of America...
So far this year, various major banks have established and closed several branches across the country.
Last year, hundreds of bank branches belonging to major financial institutions were closed. At the same time, other locations were opened as banks adjusted to the uptick in online banking services and fewer customer trips to physical locations. The Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) publishes information weekly on branch closures and openings, and their reports show that the trend is continuing in 2024, with seven branches already having closed and one having been established so far this year.
Bank of America plans to close six locations letter this month.
Bank openings
The only bank that has opened a branch so far this year is Fifth Third Bank, and it can be found at 42031 Cypress Parkway, Suite 1, in Babcock Ranch, Florida.
More openings are on the way, with the OCC having approved the establishment of nearly a dozen branches, which should open their doors sometime this year. Many of the approved locations do not yet have a physical address associated with the branch, but we are able to provide the general area or the city where the location will be opened.
