Bank of America is scheduled to close branches in some Texas cities over the next few months. Last year, the financial institution closed hundreds of locations, and although the pace of closures is slower this year, some states in the country continue to experience them, including the Lone Star State.

To find out which branches are closing, you can consult the weekly bulletins of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Before shutting down locations, banking institutions must notify the OCC at least 90 days before the potential closing date. This notification is made through an Advance Notice of Branch Closing.

These memos are shared by the OCC in weekly bulletins, published on its official website. In addition to the closures, the OCC also reports where new branches will open and which will relocate.

Bank of America branches closing in Texas in the coming months

Taking into account that the closure announcement must be made at least three months in advance, we can estimate that the April bulletins include information on the Bank of America branches that could close beginning July.

Based on Advance Closing Notices shared in April, these are the locations of Bank of America branches that will soon close in Texas:

  • 6085 CAMPBELL ROAD, DALLAS, TX
  • 15110 DALLAS PARKWAY, SUITE 100A, DALLAS, TX
  • 101 SOUTH EAST 11TH AVENUE, STE. 100. AMARILLO, TX

Meanwhile, in May, only the closure of one branch was announced- the one found at 2000 East Lamar, SUITE 100, in Arlington. This bank could close as soon as August.

In June, the Advance Notice of Closure of the Bank of America branch located at 10101 Westheimer Road, in Houston, Texas, was reported. This bank could close as of September.

Why is Bank of America closing certain banks?

Bank of America and other financial institutions have closed branches due to the rise of online banking and physical branches not being as profitable.

Banks pointed out that the banking needs of their clients have changed, since more transactions are being carried out online than in physical branches.

Banks regularly review the performance of their branches. If a location is underperforming or not generating sufficient profit, the institution may decide to close it.
