The countdown to the 2024 Oscars continues.

Next weekend, Hollywood will dress up and head to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to celebrate the 96th Academy Awards. The event will be hosted by comedian and late-night TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel, who is anchoring the ceremony for the fourth time.

Throughout the nearly century-long history of the Oscars, more than 3,000 people have been awarded a golden statuette.

How many New Yorkers have won an Oscar Award?

According to a report by Wanderu, of all states, actors and filmmakers born in New York have been awarded the greatest number of Academy Awards.

The report, published in 2019, revealed that a total of 48 Oscars have been given to New Yorkers. Since then, no artist from the state has picked up an Academy Award.

New Yorkers who have triumphed at the Oscars include Tinseltown greats such as Jane Fonda, Al Pacino, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Richard Dreyfuss and Adrien Brody.

The 2024 Academy Awards take place on Sunday 10 March 2024, with the ceremony scheduled to begin at 4pm PT/7pm ET. Viewers in the United States will be able to watch on ABC.
