The Boar’s Head listeria outbreak and recall has expanded significantly since it was first announced
Boar’s Head has substantially expanded its recall due to potential listeria contamination. The recall, which initially began in July 2024, now encompasses an astounding 3,600 tons of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, affecting consumers across the United States and several international markets.
The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that the recall now includes 71 different products manufactured between May 10 and July 29, 2024.
The extensive list of recalled products spans both the Boar’s Head and Old Country brand names, featuring a wide array of deli favorites such as liverwurst, ham, beef products, poultry items, sausages, frankfurters, and bacon. This recall affects not only meats intended for slicing at retail delis but also pre-packaged products.

Health officials are urging consumers to check their refrigerators for any potentially contaminated items and either discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
What is listeria?
