Can I get refund on infected Fabuloso products?

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Wednesday that several types of Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaners were being recalled. The products could be contaminated with Pseudomonas species bacteria, which can cause serious infection in certain people that requires medical treatment.

The company said that insufficient levels of a preservative were added to some multi-purpose cleaners meaning there is a risk of bacteria growth in the recalled products. So far there have been no incidents or injuries reported.

Roughly 4.9 million bottles of Fabuloso cleaning products are being recalled in the United States and another 56,000 in Canada. However, 3.9 million of the affected product was never released for sale according to Fabuloso.

The affected bottles were sold between 14 December and 23 January through online retailers like Amazon, and at brick-and-mortar retailers including Dollar General and Walmart. Colgate-Palmolive Company, the manufacturer of the popular brand, is offering a refund to affected customers.

How to get a refund on infected Fabuloso products

If you have one of the potentially contaminated bottles, you should not empty the contents out. Colgate-Palmolive asks that you upload photos of the product’s UPC and lot codes to the refund claim form made available online. The company is asking that if you are submitting multiple bottles to take an extra picture including all the bottles in total together.

Once you’ve taken the necessary pictures, it is advised not to empty the product from the bottle, but to simple dispose of the product in its container with household trash. When the product is confirmed, Colgate-Palmolive will issue you a reimbursement within four to six weeks.
