Can you return products bought on Black Friday 2023? Here’s how to do it

The most important shopping day of the year falls on Nov. 24- Black Friday. Despite the effects of inflation, Americans are expected to turn out in the millions to take advantage of slashed prices.

According to the National Retail Federation, 182 million consumers are expected to make purchases this year, with 130.7 million doing their shopping on Black Friday.

If you plan to go bargain-hunting during this post-Thanksgiving holiday, we recommend checking the return policies of major stores and websites.

Can you return products bought on Black Friday 2023? Here’s how to do it

The vast majority of retailers allow returns after Black Friday, but there is no specific rule for returning items that were purchased during this day.

However, some stores change their policies during the holiday season by extending return periods. These are the conditions to return products in the biggest stores.

Amazon

According to the Amazon website, during the 2023 holiday period, most products purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023 can be returned until Jan. 31, 2024. For Apple products purchased in the same period, these can be returned until January 15, 2024.

Walmart

Walmart generally has a 90-day return window, but the holiday policy extends this period. For items purchased between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, buyers have until Jan. 31, 2024 to return the item.

Target

Special return policies for the holiday shopping season apply to products purchased from Oct. 1 to Dec. 24.

For all electronics and entertainment items (excluding Apple products) the 30-day refund period will begin Dec. 26 and must be returned by January 24.

For all Apple products except mobile phones, the 15-day refund period will begin on December 26 and must be returned by January 9.

For mobile phones purchased in store or online, the 14-day refund period begins December 26 and must be returned by January 8.

Kohl's

Kohl’s return policy allows you to return most merchandise purchased in-store and on Kohls.com up to 180 days after the original purchase date with or without a receipt.

Macy's

Any item purchased at Macy’s must be returned within the first 30 days. However, for the Christmas season, the period for accepting returns is extended. Starting with purchases on or after Oct. 2, 2023, most products purchased at Macy’s or macys.com will be accepted for an extended return period through Jan. 31, 2024.

Costco

Costco offers a 100% risk-free satisfaction guarantee, so they tend to have a very flexible return policy across the board, and that extends to Black Friday purchases.

Best Buy

Purchases made from October 27, 2023 to December 30, 2023 have an extended return period until January 13, 2024, excluding some consigned items.
