The fallout from the massive CDK Global cyberattack continues, with some dealerships still seeing their business interrupted as the software company scrambles to secure their systems. For dealerships, this has meant returning to pen and paper to process the sale of a car on their lot, taking away valuable time and with very little information as to how long they will be without their sales systems.

The Car Dealership Guy, an X account dedicated to car sales, has covered the hack since it was initially reported last week. He released a helpful list of tools for those dealing with CDK outages to save time and avoid mistakes.

When will the systems be back online?

And many sales people will have time to try these tips out as the company has emailed customers (published by the Car Dealership Guy) that systems could be down until at least Sunday, 30 June. “We do feel it’s important to share that we do not believe that we will be able to get all dealers live prior to June 30th,” reads the e-mail sent to dealerships using their software.

CDK Global has remained quiet throughout the ordeal in an attempt not to damage the company’s reputation and release any information that could further expose its systems to security risks. At one point, the company’s Customer Care line was disconnected over fears that even that system could leave the company vulnerable to another attack. Additionally, while the company is communicating with customers who use the software, no public statement has been released since the series of attacks took place last week.
