Just one day after a major cyberattack halted operations at thousands of car dealerships across the United States, another attack on CDK Global’s systems forced the company to shut down its systems once again. The company, which sells various products to car dealerships to facilitate sales and manage clients, informed customers on Thursday morning that they were attacked again late last night. The situation has become critical for the company and the customers who use their products, and the second attack could postpone any plans to bring the systems back online, limiting the operations of dealerships across the country.

The Car Dealership Guy on X noted that CDK is no small player in the United States car market. The commercialization of new and used cars represents between 3 and 3.5 percent of the country’s GDP, and fifty percent of dealerships rely on CDK products to carry out their business operations.

CDK Global Customer Care lines remain closed

For those hoping to contact CDK to figure out a workaround, no such option exists. The company informed customers that their “Customer Care channels for support remain unavailable as a precautionary measure to maintain security.”

Additionally, with the company yet to make any public comments, there is very little information on the scale of the impact of the attacks. Yesterday, after it appeared the company was able to bring some of its systems back online, some dealerships could operate normally. However, this new wave of attacks makes clear that the situation is far from over.
