Charles Manson confesses to new murders

In newly released audio from Peacock’s latest docuseries, Charles Manson introduces himself as the 1960s serial killer who committed multiple murders in California and admits that he was involved in a number of homicides long before his name was even known — before the infamous Manson Family was formed. A recording from the documentary’s latest teaser clip shows Manson saying, “There’s a whole part of my life that nobody knows about.”

The Manson cult leader is also shown speaking on the phone from prison, adding, “I lived in Mexico for a while. I went to Acapulco, stole some cars. I just got in stuff over my head, man. Got involved in a couple of killings. I left my .357 Magnum in Mexico City and I left some dead people on the beach.”

According to Peacock, the new three-part docuseries looks at 20 years of never-before-aired conversations from the Manson Family, as well as audio clips and statements from the Family discussing their upbringing, family, adolescence and the cult Manson led from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. Manson did not commit all of his own murders, preferring instead to convince his followers to do them for him, ending the 1960s with more than six people killed.

The leader of the Manson sect and all his followers were arrested in 1969. At his trial in 1970, Manson appeared as a demonic entity aided by a Nazi swastika he had carved into his own forehead. A parole hearing was held in 2012, which he was denied, and featured a statement from Manson speaking to his psychologist: “I am special. I am not like the average inmate. I have spent my life in prison. I have put five people in the grave. I am a very dangerous man.”

Killer Charles Manson, who died in prison in November 2017 of natural causes, served 40 years in Corcoran, California prison for first-degree murder and conspiring in the murders of 7 others, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate, wife of film director Roman Polanski.

New Documentary Series

Manson committed hundreds of violations while at Corcoran State Prison, including repeated possession of a gun, assault, and threats against prison staff. Prison officials say he started numerous fights between inmates, tried to start a flood, spit on guards, and set his mattress on fire. Peacock describes the new series about the serial killer, saying, “Former ‘Family’ members listen to the exclusive conversations and are taken back to the time when they ‘would do anything for Charlie.’”
