Checks for $1,300 on November 16: Who received them and in what state?

Some residents in Alaska were scheduled to receive a check of approximately $1,300 on Nov. 16. Find out who got it and why the money was sent.

Various states in the United States distribute stimulus checks to their residents as a form of financial aid. Such is the case of Alaska, a state that issued payments of more than $1,300 on November 16.

The distribution of money falls under the Permanent Fund Dividend and is possible thanks to profits obtained in 2023 from the sale of oil in the state. In other words, the government will reward its residents for good oil sales.

Alaska has been handing out dividends for 42 years

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth. I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications,” said Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum in a statement.

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022. The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans,” he wrote.

Who received checks of $1,300 in Alaska?

The exact amount of the refund is $1,312 for each eligible resident and applications to receive the payment have already been closed.

To qualify, you must meet various eligibility requirements, such as not having felony convictions and demonstrating an intention to continue living in the state. The deadline to submit the application to the Alaska Department of Revenue was last March 31, which means that the people who did so already have an answer from the government.

The beneficiaries who received a refund check of $1,312 dollars were those who have a status of “Eligible-Not Paid” as a response to their application. Payment was issued on Thursday, Nov. 16.
