Cities in California with the highest minimum wage in 2024
Some cities in California increased the minimum wage of their workers beginning July 1. Here is the ranking of the cities with the highest rates.
On July 1, several cities in California increased their respective minimum wages, recording base salaries higher than the state minimum wage, which is currently at $16 per hour.
In the Golden State, more than 30 cities and counties have minimum wages higher than the state level. In January, 28 raised their rates, while in July, 10 others followed suit, including the city and county of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Monica and Emeryville.

California cities with the highest minimum wage in 2024
After the latest round of increases on July 1, this is the ranking of the cities with the highest minimum wages in the state of California.
Emeryville
After the new amount went into effect on July 1, Emeryville has become the city with the highest minimum wage in California, with a rate of $19.36 per hour. The hike was calculated based on the Consumer Price Index, which represents the increase in the cost of living established by the state.
West Hollywood
After having the status of the city with the highest minimum wage in California last year, in 2024, West Hollywood registers the second-highest minimum salary after it decided to maintain the same amount as last year: $19.08 per hour.

Mountain View
Thanks to the increase that came into effect at the beginning of the year, the minimum wage in Mountain View rose from $18.15 to $18.75, becoming the third city in the state with the highest base salary.
Berkeley and San Francisco
In July of this year, these two cities became the areas with the fourth highest wages in the state, with a minimum hourly salary of $18.67.
Sunnyvale
This city raised its rates on January 1 from $17.95 to $18.55 per hour, making it the city with the fifth highest minimum wage in California.
