Costo continues with its expansion plan, which was announced by the company’s CFO, Richard Galanti, towards the end of 2023. The membership-based retailer said that they planned to open 33 new warehouses, two of which would be relocations of existing locations and the building of 31 new locations. Three of these new locations will be ready to welcome members this fall. Here’s what we know so far about when they will open and where they will be located.

According to the company's website, three of the 31 new branches are already ready to open, so customers of the club-style retailer will be able to enjoy the stores starting this fall.

These are the locations of the new Costco stores

Two of the new locations will open in California, while the third will be opened in Oregon. All stores will open in October, but the exact date has not yet been revealed. These are the new locations, according to official company information:

  • Napa, California
  • Pleasanton, California
  • Bend, Oregon

Costco has 882 stores globally, including 609 in the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as 108 in Canada, suggesting an approximate 52 million active members.

How much does a Costco membership cost?

Starting September 1, Costco memberships will see a slight increase in the United States and Canada. Gold Star, Business, and Business Additional Card members will pay an annual fee of $65, while annual fees for Executive Memberships will increase from $120 to $130.

New entry controls

In addition to increasing the price of its memberships, the chain will also begin implementing new access controls to prevent non-members from entering stores and using the benefits customers pay for. The new security measures include scanning membership cards as cardholders enter the store rather than just showing the card to staff at the entrance.
