Sparkling water sold and Trader Joe’s recalled due to laceration risk: These are the states and bottles affected
Trader Joe’s has issued a recall of bottled sparkling mineral water after it was informed by the supplier of bottles being potentially cracked or damaged.

People who have bought Gerolsteiner Sparkling Natural Mineral Water at Trader Joe’s are being advised to not use the product and instead “dispose of them carefully and go to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.” The retailer has issued a recall of the product due to the potential for the bottles to be cracked or damaged presenting the risk of laceration.
The recall was instituted after the supplier of the affected product warned the retailer that during research the potential for bottle breakage was identified. The risk potentially affects roughly 1% of bottles that were sold from 27 December, 2024 to 28 January, 2025 according to a notice posted by Trader Joe’s.
So far there have been no reports of damaged bottles or injury as a result of the issue.
How to know if you have recalled Gerolsteiner Sparkling Natural Mineral Water sold at Trader Joe’s
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said in its notice that around 61,500 Gerolsteiner 750ml Sparkling Natural Mineral Water bottles are affected by the recall. The bottles, which sell for $3, were distributed in the following 12 states:
- Alabama
- Arizona
- Colorado
- Florida
- Georgia
- Kansas
- Louisiana
- New Mexico
- Oklahoma
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Texas
Anyone that may have purchased 750 ml bottles of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Natural Mineral Water at Trader Joe’s should look to see if they have the following code numbers on them:

“If you have bottles with either lot code, please do not use them,” states the notice from Trader Joe’s. “We urge you to dispose of them carefully and go to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”
