Donald Trump on the idea of Marco Rubio becoming president of Cuba: “Sounds good to me”
President Donald Trump reacted to a tongue-in-cheek social media post that said, “Marco Rubio will be president of Cuba.”

After issuing warnings to several countries, including Cuba, President Trump responded to a joking comment suggesting that Secretary of State Marco Rubio could become president of Cuba.
“Sounds good to me,” the Republican president wrote on Truth Social. Trump was responding to a post shared on X late last week that read, “Marco Rubio will be president of Cuba.” The joke referenced the many roles Rubio has taken on in addition to leading the State Department.
Along with serving as secretary of state, Rubio is also acting as national security adviser and interim archivist of the United States. He previously served as interim administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Trump issues warning to Cuba
Shortly after reacting to the post about Rubio’s supposed “presidency” of Cuba, Trump said there would be “no more oil or money for Cuba,” urging the government to reach an agreement “before it’s too late.”
“Cuba lived, for many years, on large amounts of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela. In return, Cuba provided “Security Services” for the last two Venezuelan dictators, BUT NOT ANYMORE! Most of those Cubans are DEAD from last weeks U.S.A. attack, and Venezuela doesn’t need protection anymore from the thugs and extortionists who held them hostage for so many years. Venezuela now has the United States of America, the most powerful military in the World (by far!), to protect them, and protect them we will.
THERE WILL BE NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA - ZERO! I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.” the president shared on Truth Social.

Earlier, Trump said Cuba appeared to be “on the verge of collapse.”
“I don’t know if they’ll be able to hold on. But Cuba now has no income. They used to get all their income from Venezuela, from Venezuelan oil, but they’re not getting anything now, and Cuba is literally on the verge of collapse. And there are many Cuban Americans who will be very happy about this,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One last week.
When asked whether his administration was considering an operation in Cuba, Trump said he did not believe any action would be necessary.
“It looks like it’s going to fall. It’s going to fall on its own,” the president said.
