Last August, Donald Trump became the first president in the history of the United States to have his mugshot taken. The photo was taken at Fulton County prison, in Atlanta, Georgia, where he faced his fourth criminal charge this year. Although such an event usually means a stain on the career of any public official, for Donald Trump it has become a way to turn a profit. He has taken advantage of his legal situation to sell fragments of the suit he used when the infamous photograph was taken.

Just like baseball cards, Trump has decided to exploit his own image and launch collectible NFTs for $99 each. Among the cards available are images of the former president in the company of his wife, Melania Trump, as well as other postcards where he is seen dressed as a cyborg, a cowboy and even Captain America. However, the main card is the Mugshot Edition, which will be the only physical piece and will feature a piece of fabric from the suit worn by Trump during his mugshot. To obtain it, collectors must purchase 47 NTF cards in a single transaction.

“On Thursday, August 24, 2023, President Trump was formally arrested in Fulton County, Georgia. This is a moment in history: It is the first mugshot of a president of the United States. In the photo, Trump has a frown and a determined look that says he will never give up. This card is not just a memory; it is a piece of history and a testament to resilience,” reads the website CollectTrumpCards, which sells the cards.

A dinner with the former president and autographed NFTs

In addition to getting part of the suit worn by Trump, the package of 47 NTFs also includes a dinner with the former president at his Mar-a-Lago residence. Those who purchase 100 cards in a single transaction will be able to upgrade their package and obtain two VIP tickets to the dinner. Of the cards available, only 25 are autographed by Trump, and these will be sent to random buyers.

The former president took to his official Truth Social account to share a video and promote his new release. “It was a great suit, believe me, a really good suit,” Trump boasted, promising to sign some of the items that are sold.
