This fruit, typical of Southeast Asian countries, is full of properties that are good for the body and that make it one of the most complete superfoods, especially if you want to maintain young and radiant skin.

Due to its presence in the most populous nation in the world, it is also called Indian jobo and in its adult stage, the tree can produce more than 1,500 fruits. Despite being characteristic of Asia, it can also be found in Latin American countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, Puerto Rico and Honduras.

Slimming effects: This fruit only has 73 kcal per 100 grams due to its high percentage of water, making it ideal for those who are following diets to lose weight.

Antioxidant: The mangosteen manages to stand up to free radicals, or chemicals behind the aging of the skin. It also has potassium, which helps to reinvigorate muscles.

How to consume mangosteen

To eat this fruit, it is advisable to cut it in two with a knife. At first it has a sweet and sour taste that gives rise to new sensations on the palate.

It can be eaten on its own, but, like many other fruits, it can also be added to salads, made into sorbets or cakes, or prepared as a jam.
