Eduardo Siverio, chef: “Wine doesn’t go bad: this is the perfect way to use it for a punch”
The expert has shared a recipe on TikTok to improve wine that has been opened previously.
In gastronomy, it’s not just food that matters. Drinks play a key role too, and wine stands out for its wide variety.
That said, this product has also been surrounded by many myths, such as the idea that it goes bad. Chef Eduardo Siverio addressed this misconception on his TikTok profile.
“Wine doesn’t go bad, it just levels up,” he begins in a video he shared while preparing a punch to make use of, in this case, “a bottle of wine from 1995 that isn’t corked or spoiled, but has completely faded.”
Get a punch out of old wine
To start, he pours the wine into a bowl and adds “between 2.1 and 2.8 ounces of sugar, 2.7 fluid ounces of triple sec, 2.7 fluid ounces of your favorite red vermouth, and 2.7 fluid ounces of some gin.”
Next, Eduardo adds other ingredients in pieces, such as an apple, an orange, a lime, or a lemon. Then he includes “a handful of grapes cut in half and a cinnamon stick.”
He then stirs the mixture “to dissolve the sugar and then places it in the refrigerator so the wine absorbs the flavors of the fruit and the fruit takes on the flavor of the wine.”
If you want to take it a step further, Siverio suggests a few more additions: “After 2 hours in the fridge, take it out, add ice, equal parts orange soda and lemon soda, and exactly twice as much club soda.”
A perfect punch that, according to the expert, can also be made with other fruits, using “whatever you like best.”
