Every Pantone Color of the Year since it was created in 2000
The world famous paint company declares one of its myriad colours to represent the year that will be, with 2025′s very understated number just announced.
Pantone has announced Mocha Mousse as its Color of the Year for 2025, continuing a tradition that began in 2000.
This warm, chocolatey brown hue (Pantone 17-1230) was selected to reflect the importance of “little treat culture” and the desire for harmony in an increasingly turbulent world.
Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, describes Mocha Mousse as a mellow brown that conjures feelings of comfort and warmth.
“Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Color Institute
This choice is similar to last year’s selection, Peach Fuzz, which also emphasized themes of comfort and coziness. A lot of Americans will be hoping for a year of such feelings next year.

How Pantone Chooses the Color of the Year
The selection process for Pantone’s Color of the Year is a comprehensive, year-long endeavor involving a team of color experts from around the world. These specialists analyze global trends across various sectors, including fashion, art, technology, travel, and socio-economic conditions.
The chosen color is picked from Pantone’s existing bank of colors and aims to reflect the current global mood while anticipating future trends.
“I look for ascending color trends, colors that are being used in broader ways and broader context than before,” Eiseman said back in 2014.
