A total solar eclipse will pass over the United States for a second time in seven years. Fans of astronomy and celestial events are eagerly anticipating the event that will take place on Monday April 8, 2024.

The rare occurrence will cross Northern America, and some lucky states will have great views of the Moon passing directly between the Sun and the Earth and watching day turn into night for brief time. It will be quite the show even for those outside the path of totality that will only see a partial solar eclipse. But in order to do so, you are strongly advised to wear special glasses to protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the Sun.

“The total solar eclipse will be a once-in-a-generation experience for our state, and it’s critical that New Yorkers have the tools and information to enjoy it safely,” Hochul said in a statement. “I’m focused on giving everyone the resources they need to safely experience this extraordinary event.”
