From Las Vegas to San Juan, Puerto Rico: these destinations are breaking low-cost records this year
Discover the most affordable destinations from the United States in 2026 and take advantage of flights starting at just $28, according to Skyscanner.

The travel platform Skyscanner has released a new guide highlighting the cheapest destinations for travelers departing from the United States in 2026. Although half of the users surveyed by the travel search engine estimate they will pay more than $150 for a round-trip ticket this year, the platform has identified fares starting at just $28.
Topping the list, according to Skyscanner, is Las Vegas, with an average round-trip economy fare of $232 for flights booked between January and October 2025 for travel this year. However, travelers can find round-trip tickets for February starting at $38.
Next is San Salvador, with an average round-trip price of $282. In March, fares drop as low as $35. In third place is Miami, with an average fare of $284, and April deals starting at $33. It is followed by Kahului, where the average round-trip price is $329, and July fares begin at $59.
Fifth on the list is Orlando, with an average round-trip fare of $353. Flights in May, however, are available for as little as $28. Next is San Juan, with an average fare of $365, though travelers can fly there in March starting at $43. Punta Cana ranks seventh, with an average price of $375 and February tickets available from $87.
Flights to Mexico City average $402 round trip, but in March fares fall to $68. For those who love Mexico’s coastal destinations, Cancun also appears on the list, with an average round-trip fare of $411 and June prices dropping to $81.
The tenth spot goes to the only European destination on the list: Milan, with an average fare of $559 and March tickets available for $151.
Skyscanner’s tips for finding flight deals
According to the platform, one of the most reliable ways to find deals is to choose travel dates strategically. In 2026, Wednesdays are expected to be the cheapest day to fly, although this may vary depending on the route and month. Skyscanner also offers tools such as the “Whole Month” feature, which allows travelers to easily compare dates to find the best balance between convenience and price.
In addition, the platform has introduced a planner highlighting the most affordable destinations by month.
Why are prices dropping?
Skyscanner explains that when flight prices decrease, it is often due to the launch of new routes and increased service frequency by low-cost airlines. As in any market, when demand is low, prices tend to fall to stimulate interest. When demand rises, fares typically increase as well.
Traveler trends, according to Skyscanner
According to research conducted by the travel app in partnership with OnePoll, two of the biggest obstacles to booking travel are indecision about the destination, cited by 43 percent of respondents, and financial concerns, cited by 36 percent. Among other findings, 44 percent of travelers departing from the United States plan to travel abroad.
