Google’s $135 million Android settlement: Who qualifies and how to claim your payout

Around 100 million Americans could see money from a class action lawsuit brought against the tech giant. Here’s who’s eligible and how to claim.

Update:

Google has agreed to pay out $135 million to settle a class action lawsuit brought against the tech giant. While the company did not admit any wrong doing, it was accused of causing Android cellular devices to send “a variety of information to Google without users’ permission,” which in turn used up the users’ data.

It is estimated that roughly 100 million people will qualify for a piece of the settlement each of whom will get an equal portion of it, expected to be around one dollar. Here are the details; eligibility, important dates, and how to claim.

How to claim compensation from Google’s Android settlement

Any U.S. citizen who has used an Android mobile device at any time since November 12, 2017 and who is not part of similar, separate class action lawsuit that only involved residents of California may be eligible for a payment. People that qualify for a part of the settlement can visit the class action case’s website to choose how they want to be paid.

If you wish not to participate in the settlement or would like to object to the settlement, you must do so by May 26, 2026. No funds will be distributed until after the final hearing and the presiding judge approves the settlement.

If you qualify for the settlement and do nothing, the executor of the settlement will still attempt to issue you a payment. But if you do not select a payment type, your money may never arrive.
