Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog, has delivered its judgement on the weather for the rest of winter. He didn’t see his shadow, supposedly setting the stage for an early arrival of springtime. Whether this will come true is another matter entirely.
Groundhog Day is not a national holiday in the United States. It is a traditional observance that takes place on 2 February each year. Since Groundhog Day is not a federal holiday, banks and post offices remain open on this day.
