With the famous franchise finally coming to an end, we’re taking a look at the cast and of course the release date, so you can know who to look out for and when!

“Halloween” remains the ruler of the slasher genre

Back in the fall of 1978, writer/director John Carpenter created a film franchise that received a mixed reception at the time, but would go on to become a cult classic in the slasher genre. This of course brings us to the 13th film in the franchise’s 40-year-journey, ‘Halloween Ends. Among those films, there have of course been several remakes, reprisals, prequels and sequels from a variety of film makers, however, most recently it was Blumhouse Productions who breathed new life into the franchise. In terms of chronology, ‘Halloween Ends’ is actually the last sequel to the 2018 series and will see the dramatic conclusion of the original story of psychotic killer Michael Myers and the object of his demented obsession, Laurie Strode.

What is the release date for “Halloween Ends?”

Though “Halloween Ends” premiered at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on October 11th, 2022, it is actually set for theatrical release in the United Sates on October 14th, 2022 by Universal Pictures. Additionally, the feature film will also be available for streaming on Peacock for a period of 60 days.

A look at the cast of “Halloween Ends”

One of the interesting things about “Halloween Ends” is that it saw the return of the entire team that was responsible for the ‘legacy trilogy,’ which is to say David Gordon Green as the director and co-writer alongside Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier. The sequel continues four years after the events of the 2018 film and is said to “incorporate elements of the pandemic into the story.” Don’t worry, there won’t be any spoilers here but what we will do is take a look at the cast of what is set to be the final showdown between Laurie and Michael. Let’s get into!

Jamie Lee Curtis is of course ‘Laurie Strode’

If we’re honest, the story of Halloween wouldn’t exist without the character of Laurie Strode. Indeed, one could probably say that without Curtis’ rendition of Strode, the franchise wouldn’t have continued for this long. A survivor of Myers’ killing spree, Laurie has escaped the sinister maniac on many occasions and thus has become the sole focus of his horrible aspirations. Over the years Laurie has battled alcoholism and PTSD, as one would if you’d the things she has. Following the events of “Halloween Kills” in which she lost her daughter, Laurie now lives with her granddaughter Allyson just outside of Haddonfield and it’s at this juncture, that Myers will make one last appearance.

James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle jointly play ‘Michael Myers’

When Myers first appeared in the blood curdling 1978 film wearing a mask, he proceeded to butcher a group of unsuspecting babysitters before going on to wreak havoc on the town Haddonfield. It was actor/director Nick Castle who played the psychopath then and will in fact be reprising the role one last time. For the heavy lifting, however, Myers will also be played by actor/stuntman James Jude Courtney, who actually played Myers in the last two films in the franchise.

Andi Matichak will once again be ‘Allyson Nelson’

Interestingly, it was the 2018 film that brought Andi Matichak to the attention of audiences and since then she’s been part of the franchise. As ‘Allyson,’ Matichak plays Laurie’s granddaughter and the daughter of the now deceased Karen - Laurie’s daughter. Incidentally, went up against Myers in the last film and managed to injure him. As mentioned above, she now lives with her Laurie and we’re guessing she’s probably going to have a role alongside her grandmother in finally taking down Myers.

Will Patton returns as ‘Deputy Frank Hawkins’

Though Will Patton hasn’t been in the franchise from the very start, his character certainly has. A genuine good Samaritan, Hawkins’ hatred for Myers is probably only matched by his guilt about the past for having stopped Dr. Loomis - played by Donald Pleasance - from killing the psychopath all those years ago back in 1978. Patton’s ‘Hawkins’ first appears in the 2018 film where we see through a flashback that it was him as a sheriff’s deputy who first put Michael Myers behind bars. In the sequel, he is severely injured by the killer and actually ends up in the same hospital room as Laurie, for whom he has a soft spot - nothing ever happened between them. It is there in that room, that the pair vow to bring an end to Myers one way or another.

Rohan Campbell plays a new character, ‘Corey Cunningham’

Accused of killing a child he was babysitting; Corey - played by Rohan Campbell - is not known to the audience before that point. Plot wise, however, it is his alleged crime that revives the terrible memories of both Haddonfield’s residents and Laurie herself. Shortly after, Myers resurfaces and the chaos ensues. Is Corey connected to Myers in some way, is he set to be part of the body count, or is the death of the child he was babysitting, simply a move by Myers to draw out Laurie? You know what you’ve got to do to find out.

Kyle Richards comes from Laurie’s past as ‘Lindsey Wallace’

If you’ve been following all along, you will remember that on that first night back in 1978, Laurie was babysitting a group of children. ‘Lindsey Wallace’ - played by Kyle Richards - was one of those kids. With the return of Myers to Haddonfield decades later, it now appears that Lindsey is on the hit list. This is of course, not the first time that we’re seeing Lindsey as she appeared with her still traumatized childhood friends in “Halloween Kills.” On that occasion she was attacked by Myers, but seemingly survived the ordeal with some injuries. There are two other characters to note, with Michael O’Leary starring as Dr. Mathis, and Omar Dorsey reprising his role from previous movies as Sheriff Barker, Haddonfield’s current sheriff.

With that, we leave you with the movie’s official synopsis so that you can get your head ready for Laurie and Michael’s last dance:

“Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.”
