What to do in a heat wave?

In the face of an extreme heat wave, authorities recommend staying hydrated and indoors, if possible, with air conditioning. Avoid outdoor activities, especially during the hottest hours, which are from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Also if you go by car, do not leave children, the disabled or pets in the car even for a moment. The National Weather Service says that a child could die within ten minutes of being trapped in a parked car. Likewise, it is recommended to keep an eye on news and updates from the NWS in case of evacuations, as high temperatures can cause forest fires. Just a few days ago, a fire grew to 14,000 acres near Tracy, 65 miles east of San Francisco.
