Here’s every state where the minimum salary increases today, Jan. 1 2025
Workers in over 20 states will see a pay raise starting on New Year’s Day when the minimum wage gets an increase.
The federal minimum wage of $7.25 has remained the same for the past 15 years despite the cost of living increasing. There have been pushes to boost the base amount workers are paid for their labor in recent years, but none of them have gained enough traction in Congress.
Fortunately for millions of Americans in 30 states and the District of Columbia, higher minimum wages have been approved by voters. Some of these have implemented annual increases and in over 20 of them including California, Florida, Illinois and New York, the adjustment of the hourly minimum will take effect on New Year’s Day.
