Here's how much the Medicare Part B premium will rise in 2025: How will it affect Social Security payments?
The CMS has released the new Medicare premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts for 2025. Here’s a look at how much more you’ll pay next year.
The open enrollment period is now open for Medicare and seniors will have to decide if they want to stick with their current plan or make changes to their medical coverage. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the new premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts for 2025 for Medicare Part A and Part B.
The increase to the Medicare Part B program, which covers visits to the doctor, medical tests, and other services that take place outside the hospital and that are not covered by Medicare Part A was in line with expectations. Enrollees will pay a standard monthly Part B premium of $185.00 in 2025.

Here’s how much the Medicare Part B premium will rise in 2025: How will it affect Social Security payments?
The increase of $10.30 per month from $174.70 in 2024 is less than the average increase of $50 that Social Security beneficiaries will receive. Premiums for Medicare Part B are deducted automatically from Social Security payments, meaning the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) beneficiaries will receive in 2025 will be reduced by the amount of the Part B increase for those enrolled in the program.
Most Medicare members don’t pay a premium for Part A which covers hospital and hospice care. However, the deductible that beneficiaries pay for Part A if admitted to hospital will increase to will be $1,676 in 2025, an increase of $44 from 2024.
This deductible covers the first 60 days of the beneficiaries’ share of costs for Medicare-covered inpatient hospital care in a benefit period. Stays beyond that in 2025 will incur a coinsurance expense for beneficiaries of $419 per day for the 61st through 90th day of a hospitalization and $838 per day for lifetime reserve days during a benefit period. Those are increases of $11 and $22, respectively, from the 2024 amounts.
The daily coinsurance amount for beneficiaries in skilled nursing facilities will be $209.50 in 2025 for days 21 through 100 of extended care services in a benefit period.
