Higher fireworks prices this Fourth of July? How Trump’s tariffs might affect holiday celebrations
A look at how President Trump’s tariffs on China could lead to higher prices for fireworks this Fourth of July.

The vast majority of firework displays that will take place on the Fourth of July will rely on imports from China to put on their local show. Independence Day is a public holiday, with many workers having Friday off.
The White House is looking to celebrate the holiday with the passage of President Trump’s ‘one big beautiful bill.’ The enormous legislative package has been approved by the Senate and sent back to the House of Representatives, where leaders will have to approve the changes made to the bill the body passed in June. President Trump views the bill as a crucial component of his mandate, which supports his initiative to impose sweeping tariffs on some of the country’s largest trading partners.

Some of these imported fireworks have been subjected to higher tariffs this year due to ongoing trade disputes and tariff policies, which could increase the costs for towns and cities planning to host patriotic fireworks displays during the holiday. Additionally, retailers and vendors who sell imported fireworks may have reduced their orders if they did not plan for potential shortages or higher costs, risking supply shortages as the holiday approaches. This could lead to higher prices for consumers and event organizers, affecting the scale and affordability of fireworks displays nationwide.
