House of the Dragon: Episode 9 | ‘The Green Council’ recap and what to expect from the finale?

The search for prince Aegon is on!

The episode begins with the meeting of the small council, and it is uncovered that Otto Hightower and his political allies have been planning on how to install Price Aegon. The issue is... no one can seem to find him.

During this episode, we see that Queen Alicent is upset about the planning that took place behind her back - she thinks the King wanted her son to succeed him, but she also knows the love he had for his daughter.. Against the wishes of her father, Queen Alicent sends terms of surrender to Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen at Dragon Stone.

Guess who really wants the throne? Prince Aemond confesses his desire to see himself rule to Ser Creston Cole. This becomes extremely uncomfortable because he seems like a power-crazed villain when speaking about his dream.

A price for Prince Aemond is offered

The White Worm, who is extorting Otto Hightower for the prince’s location, makes her proposal. However, before Otto can get his hands on him, Ser Creston and Aemond manage to snatch him.

Some did not bend the knee

Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, who was still staying in Kings Landing, was locked in her room until she is visited by Queen Alicent. The princess tells the queen that her solution will not liberate her because she continues to fulfill the actions of the men who control her.

Ser Eryk tries to help the process escape, but they are separated in the crowd, being corralled to see Prince Aegon ascend the Iron Throne. During the ceremony, Rhaenys is able to sneak away, and when she comes back... no one wants to be around...

When she had the chance to kill King Aegon, Princess Rhaenys chooses mercy and instead flies off on her dragon.

A small reflection

Where was Rhaenyera? While the episode was very intriguing, the other side of the family was sorely missed.

Based on the preview, we will see much more from Princess Rhaenyera and her battle to rally troops behind her.
