How many kids do Usha and J.D. Vance have? What you should know about their children
Donald Trump’s vice president elect married wife Usha Chilukuri in 2014, with the couple starting a family three years later.
On Monday (January 20), Donald Trump will take office as President of the United States for a second time, with J.D. Vance officially beginning his role as Trump’s vice president.
Vance and his wife, Usha Chilukuri, have maintained a relatively low profile to date, which may prove a challenge given their newfound status. The couple, who met at Yale Law School and married in 2014, have preferred to keep their three children out of the public eye.
J.D. Vance under fire from far-right due to marriage
J.D. Vance has come under scrutiny due to Usha’s Indian heritage. Far-right commentators have expressed skepticism about his stance on immigration, insinuating that his wife’s ethnicity might influence his policies. Conservative pundit Stew Peters went as far as to suggest an “Indian coup” was taking place in the United States, pointing to Usha Vance’s ethnicity as evidence.

White supremacist Nick Fuentes also attacked the Vances for their interracial marriage, casting doubt over whether the new vice-president would “support white identity” as a result. “I think the guy’s a total loser,” Vance responded. “Certainly, I disavow him”
Usha and J.D. Vance’s three children
Ewan Vance
The eldest of the Vance children, Ewan, was born in June 2017. His arrival marked the beginning of J.D. and Usha’s journey into parenthood. The couple received warm congratulations from public figures like podcast host Megyn Kelly upon Ewan’s birth.
Vivek Vance
The Vances’ second child, Vivek, was born in February 2020. J.D. Vance made headlines when he celebrated Vivek’s fourth birthday on the Senate floor in 2024. Despite missing the family celebration due to political commitments, Vance took a moment to read from Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” as a part of a filibuster against increased funding for Ukraine.
Mirabel Vance
The youngest member of the Vance family, Mirabel, was born in December 2021. Vance shared the news on social media along with photos from the hospital, which he later deleted.
