How to apply for the $1,500 mortgage aid for Miami residents

Miami-Dade County has announced that some residents will be able to receive a $1,500 check to help with mortgages. Here’s how to apply for the benefit.

New financial aid has been approved in Miami-Dade, Florida.

County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has announced new financial relief for homeowners who are behind on their monthly mortgage payments. Cava said this new program, which runs under the name Plan HOMES, is the result of a partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, and is expected to provide assistance to 15,000 eligible families.

Those who are qualified may receive a one-time payment of $1,500, which must be used to pay past due bills, as well as homeowners association dues and property insurance, among other property-related expenses.

Who is eligible for the $1,500 check in Miami-Dade?

Under the HOMES plan, residents who will receive the one-time payment of $1,500 are those who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Income less than 140% of the area median income (from $95,620 for a one-person household to $180,180 for an eight-person household)
  • Your principal residence is in Miami-Dade County

Older adults, people with disabilities, families with children and households with mortgage bills that are three to twelve months past due, will have priority in the process of selection.

How to Apply for the $1,500 Mortgage Help for Miami Residents

Those who wish to obtain financial assistance for mortgage payments should submit their application online through the Mortgage Relief Program website.
