iMessage is down for some Apple users: When it will be up and why isn’t it working?
Thousands of customers are reporting that their iMessages are not getting sent. However, Apple says all is A-okay.
Apple iMessage users worldwide are reporting that there is a service outage this Thursday evening. When trying to send a message, users are reportedly seeing the “not delivered” flag.
So far, according to Downdetector there were nearly 14,000 reports of problems, with over three quarters of those related to sending messages. It appears that New York City is the area most affected in the United States.

According to System Status dashboard at Apple Support all is running okay at the moment. There has yet to be posted a message regarding users’ complaints.
After peaking a little after 6:00 pm ET, the number of outage reports at Downdetector has been dropping, down to less than 11,000 as of publication.
While the problem is being experienced by some user across carriers and continents it is unknown what is causing the problem. In the meantime, it is just a matter of wait and see.
