Incredible scene in Detroit, thousands of dollars thrown from a helicopter
A financial fantasy rained down on a street in Detroit last Friday, as dollar bills were thrown from a helicopter over Gratiot Avenue.
A gift from the grave rained down on Detroit on Friday, June 27. Last week, the city’s Gratiot Avenue experienced something out of a dream: raining money.
The cash shower was the grand idea of Darrell Thomas, a Detroit native who passed away in mid-June. FOX2Detroit described Thomas as "a community pillar known for loving his family, his fellow neighbors and a love of classic cars."
His son, Smoke, who helped in orchestrating the tribute to his late father, said that the giveaway "was his last blessing to everyone,” forever cementing his status as a “legend” within his community.
The scene on Graiot Avenue
The stunt took place around 1 p.m. on Friday, June 27, and one local present described the scene to The Detroit News.
“There were so many people, it was actually kind of crazy,” Anaya Toney, who was just arriving at work when the dollar bills started flowing.
