Instagram disabled my account for no reason: how to recover followers after crash?

A bug has told some users that their accounts have been suspended leading many to ask how to get them back.

Some Instagram users received a shock this morning that their accounts may be permanently banned.

“We suspended your account on October 31, 2022,” the warning reads, before telling users that their account “doesn’t follow our community guidelines” and that it will be permanently disabled if the suspension is upheld.

DownDetector, a website tracking websites and their availability, reported a spike in outages at 9am EDT.

Users unaffected by this mistake will have seen their follower count drop. The reason for this is suspended accounts no longer count towards a follower total. However, as many of these suspensions seem to be an error, the resumption of usual programming will mean your followers should return when the accounts are reactivated.

Instagram has a published list of their Community Guidelines so you can check if your account m,ay have fallen foul to any of these.

If you don’t see a disabled message, you may be experiencing a login issue. If your account was deleted by you or someone with your password, there’s no way to restore it,” the guidance reads.

However, this information may prove inconsequential. Instagram is likely to reinstate all of the suspended accounts if they haven’t broken the guidelines.
