Microsoft users around the world reported issues on Monday as a major outage affected the popular Outlook and Teams apps.

The outage was first reported at the start of Europe’s working day but persisted throughout Monday. The two affected apps - Outlook and Teams - are part of Microsoft’s Office 365 suite of programs, geared towards businesses.

Website outage tracker Down Detector reported that both continued to experience problems throughout the day in Europe. Microsoft has acknowledged issues with its Exchange Online, which hosts the service for elements of both Outlook and Teams.

Many users have found no noticeable disruption to the service today but others have reported issues. Some experienced difficulties logging in to Outlook or Teams apps, while other found that they could not load email attachments.

Around 80% of the reported issues are thought to relate to Outlook, particularly when users have tried to access through the website. Microsoft has announced that it is implementing a ‘fix’ to get the system back to full functionality.

A post on X from Microsoft said it had “started to deploy a fix which is currently progressing through the affected environment,” adding: “While this progresses, we’re beginning manual restarts on a subset of machines that are in an unhealthy state.”
