Is your Tesla really new? What buyers are discovering is deeply concerning

If you’re in the market for a Tesla Cybertruck, you might assume that what you’re getting is fresh off the factory floor. But some buyers are discovering that their “new” vehicle might have already weathered months of outdoor storage – raising serious questions about quality, transparency, and value.

Weather-beaten Tesla considered new

As reported by Techoreon, Texas buyer Reza Soltani placed his Cybertruck order on April 25 and was immediately told it was ready for pickup. That seemed fast.. suspiciously fast even. When he pressed Tesla for details, he was told the truck had left the factory on January 8. It had been sitting in the elements for over four months. Soltani declined the vehicle.

He’s not alone in raising concerns. Independent photographers and drone footage have shown huge lots of unsold Cybertrucks baking under the sun, waiting either for buyers or for delivery. Reports suggest Tesla has produced far more trucks than customers are ordering, leading to price cuts, layoffs, and a push into new markets like Saudi Arabia.

Does leaving car outside have impact?

Before you ask, extended outdoor storage isn’t necessarily a minor issue. EVs can suffer real degradation: battery performance drops with extreme heat or cold, moisture can get into electronics, and even surface rust becomes a possibility. Add that to the Cybertruck’s already shaky reputation for high repair costs and recalls, and it’s clear why some buyers feel misled.

Tesla hasn’t publicly addressed the storage issue. In the meantime, prospective buyers should ask about their vehicle’s build date and storage history, before taking delivery. It might look new. But it might not be.
