Jeff Bezos and other billionaires live on an island with no septic tank and want to send their waste to their neighbors
Indian Creek, an artificial island in Miami (USA) known as the “millionaires’ bunker,” does not have a wastewater treatment plant.

Indian Creek is one of the most exclusive and prestigious areas in Miami. This island, located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, is often referred to as the “Millionaire’s Bunker.”
Covering just 1.23 square kilometers, Indian Creek has a registered population of fewer than 100 residents. Despite its small size, the island is home to sprawling luxury mansions owned by celebrities such as Ivanka Trump, Julio Iglesias, Tom Brady, and Jeff Bezos, among others.
In fact, the Amazon founder and former CEO purchased a new property on the island last year, reportedly equipped with a cutting-edge security system. However, Indian Creek lacks a septic system or wastewater treatment facility.
To address this issue, the community has explored the option of connecting to the wastewater system of Surfside, a neighboring and less exclusive town located just north of the island.
A $10 Million price tag
Surfside responded by proposing a $10 million fee for access to its wastewater infrastructure. “We want to be good neighbors,” said Surfside Mayor Charles W. Burkett, as quoted by The New York Times.
