The Johnny Depp versus Amber heard trial’s fallout is still being felt. Depp won the trial, meaning Heard must pay him $15 million: $10 million in compensatory and $5 million in punitive damages.

The jury took nearly a week to deliberate which was perhaps no surprise. The case was heard over multiple weeks, meaning lots of time was needed before the decisions were made.

But now, nearly three weeks later, the jury have broken rank and have began to speak publicly about why they came to their ruling. One anonymous juror, speaking to GMA, has shone a light into the process behind the curtain. So far, he is the only one of seven jurors to speak publicly.

What did the juror tell Good Morning America?

“It didn’t come across as believable,” the juror said of Heard’s emotional testimony, “It seemed like she was able to flip the switch on her emotions. She would answer one question and she would be crying and two seconds later she would turn ice cold. It didn’t seem natural.”

He said Depp, “just seemed a little more real in terms of how he responded to questions.”

He continued, adding that the jury believed “they were both abusive to each other.”

“They had their husband-wife arguments. They were both yelling at each other. I don’t think that makes either of them right or wrong. That’s what you do when you get into an argument, I guess. But to rise to the level of what she was claiming, there wasn’t enough or any evidence that really supported what she was saying,” he said.

The jury was also not convinced by images of Depp having consumed marijuana and alcohol, believing the combination of the two would not produce a person in a state of violence. The juror did not comment upon Depp’s cocaine usage.

“If you mix alcohol and marijuana, that’s where you usually end up - passed out,” he said. “We discussed at length that a lot of the drugs she said he used, most of them were downers. And you usually don’t get violent on downers. You become a zombie, as those pictures show.”

Discussing the photos of Heard’s brusied face, the juror said he doubted them, because of the defense’s claim that the actress “never goes outside without makeup on.”

“Yet she goes to file the restraining order without makeup on,” the juror said. “And it just so happens her publicist is with her. Those things add up and start to become hard to believe.”
