Kentucky mother comes home to find 70,000 lollipops at her door

What do you do when your second grader spends more than $4,000 on candy?

A parent’s nightmare and a child’s fantasy took place in Lexington, Kentucky, after a second grader more than 70,000 Dum Dums to their family home... on mom’s credit card.

WSAW, the CBS affiliate, reported on the story, which, though nerve-wrecking, showed the family that they had the support of their community.

According to the affiliate, each box ordered by the young member of the LaFavers’ household, contained 2,340 lollipops... multiplied by 30, we get a whopping total of 70,200 suckers delivered the family’s home, a total of costing $4,200.

Holly LaFavers posted to Facebook soon after the delivery was made. She says that after realizing what had happened, she contacted the e-commerce company, who said that upon delivery she should reject the order... that proved difficult after the outrageous candy order was delivered to the doorstep, with no warning from Amazon.

However, she updated her post shortly that she would be refunded, after “working with the bank” and after various news stations contacted Amazon. LaFavers was grateful that so many people had offered to purchase one of the boxes for $130, when she feared that she might be stuck with the bill.
