Leonardo DiCaprio invests more millions in Trujillo, one of the world’s largest suppliers of diamonds for chips
The American actor aims to promote greener industrialization and financially supports sustainable factories and businesses.

Diamond Foundry, working in partnership with the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), has identified the ideal location for its synthetic diamond factory at the Arroyo Caballo industrial park in Trujillo, in the western Spanish province of Cáceres. The new technology company operating in Spain focuses on producing high-purity synthetic diamonds in laboratory conditions for industrial applications.
The company has been operating since March 2023 and plans to use technology that rapidly and sustainably replicates the Earth’s natural conditions, powered by solar energy. Just over six months after its launch, the company announced plans for a future facility to manufacture diamond substrates for high-performance chips, a project that already counts major shareholders, including Leonardo DiCaprio.
The American actor is among a group of wealthy investors backing the development of diamond substrates for chips. This is not an isolated case. He is well known for directing part of his fortune toward companies similar to Diamond Foundry that operate within the sustainability sector. “I am proud to invest in Diamond Foundry, a company that reduces human and environmental costs by growing sustainable diamonds,” DiCaprio said in an interview, according to ABC.
Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation
Beyond investing part of his considerable wealth in sustainability-focused companies, the actor is also the founder of a foundation dedicated to promoting long-term health and well-being for people on planet Earth. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, based in California, supports projects around the world that build climate resilience, protect vulnerable wildlife from extinction, and restore balance to threatened communities and ecosystems, according to the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN).
Known as leonardodicaprio.org, the foundation provides funding and advocacy at the local, state, and international levels, including at the United Nations, in support of laws that recognize the Rights of Nature. Its stated goal is “to ensure a thriving natural world rich in biodiversity, a prosperous human population, and a healthy climate.” In Ecuador, the foundation has been running grant-making initiatives since the fall of 2018 to benefit the country’s ecosystems and wildlife.
