Liam Payne, world-famous for being part of the London boy band One Direction, dies at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of his hotel, Casa Sur, in Buenos Aires, California. The tragic death has shocked fans across the world.

The tragic death of the singer was confirmed by the ambulance service for Buenos Aires, the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME), after officers from local police precinct responded to the hotel following an emergency call alerting authorities about an “aggressive man” who allegedly could have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The singer had been open about his struggles with alcoholism and addiction, which find their roots in his One Direction days. Last year he had informed his followers that he had checked into rehab and was confronting his addiction.

Authorities responded after receiving a call from Payne’s hotel

According to Alberto Crescenti, the head of SAME, the musician suffered “very serious injuries,” making it impossible to revive him: “At 5:04 p.m. (local time), through 911, we were alerted to a person who was in the courtyard of the CasaSur hotel.”

Crescenti also stated that the first responders, who arrived at 5:11 p.m., were unaware of who the victim was. Medical responders pronounced him dead at the scene, stating that Payne “had suffered injuries incompatible with life as a result of his fall.”

Payne is survived by his parents, Karen and Geoff Payne, his siblings, Nicola and Ruth, and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. The loss is shared by millions of adoring fans from every corner of the globe.
