List of cheeses recalled for possible E. coli and listeria: all brands affected
E. coli and Listeria found in cheese products have led to a massive recall. What brands have been affected?
The CDC and FDA issued a massive recall after E.coli and Listeria were found in over a dozen cheese products.
Two brands are covered under the recall, and it is best to check your fridge and the complete list to avoid contracting one of these nasty foodborne illnesses.
E. Coli found in RAW FARM’s products
The FDA has issued a recall for RAW FARM Raw Cheddar blocks, including the original flavor (all blocks and shredded packages) and Chedded with added Jalapeño flavor. The warning covers all sizes of blocks and shredded packages of both varieties.
What are the symptoms of E. coli?
If you have purchased these products and are feeling sick, keep an eye out for these symptoms. Symptoms can appear after just a few days after consuming the contaminated food, and “severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting.” If you see blood in your stool, you should seek medical treatment immediately, as it can be a sign of a life-threatening condition, like kidney failure. For more details on the symptoms, check out the recall from the FDA published on the agency’s website.
As of 16 February, the FDA had confirmed ten cases related to the contaminated cheese, of which four affected people in California, three in Colorado, two in Utah, and one in Texas.
Rizo-López Foods voluntarily recalled various products
In early February, Rizo-López Foods recalled nearly a dozen products after some were found to be contaminated with listeria, which “can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.” However, healthy individuals are not entirely safe from the disease, as they can experience symptoms including high fever, headaches, nausea, and diarrhea, among others.
This handout published by Rizo Lopez Foods contains the complete list of products that have been recalled. This sheet includes information such as the products’ names, where they were sold, their sizes, their UPC codes, and their sell-by dates.
