The equinox on March 20th marked the official start of spring in the northern hemisphere and fall in the southern hemisphere. Additionally, with the arrival of spring this year comes Spring Break 2023, a vacation that typically coincides with the Easter period. Spring Break is observed by universities, colleges, and many K-12 school systems in the United States, and usually falls between March and April, depending on the dates of the terms and Easter vacation.

Spring Break typically lasts for a week or two, although some schools schedule it for the last week of March, with separate days off for Easter. For this year, the most common Spring Break days will be between March 11 and April 1.

Texas hits the spot for Spring Break 2023

Spring Break is frequently associated with trips to places with warm climates, which is why Florida’s beaches are one of the main destinations in the country. However, in the wake of a curfew following a series of shootings in Miami, the party has found another favorite home.

Spring Break has arrived in Texas. Thousands of students were seen drinking and dancing this weekend on the beaches of South Padre Island, a resort town on a sandbank which is located on the south coast of Texas.

Is Spring Break in Florida over?

In Florida, the party is over for many spring breakers after Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber imposed a curfew following two shootings. “We don’t ask for Spring Break in our city,” Gelber declared.

The curfew was enacted on Sunday night, prohibiting tourists from heading out after 11:59 p.m. all the way through to 6 a.m. on Monday. In addition, separate emergency measures have been put in place to take effect from Thursday, March 23 to Sunday, March 27.
