July 29 can only mean one thing - a nationwide celebration of crispy, tasty, tender chicken wings. Let’s look at some of the best deals on offer.
Barbecued, fried, smoked, hot and spicy or sticky and sweet... chicken wings will be on the menu this week as millions of Americans, in time-honored tradition, celebrate National Chicken Wing Day.
The idea to have one day of the year dedicated to the humble snack all started in 1977 when Buffalo Mayor Stan Makowski declared July 29th Chicken Wing Day.
Crispy, tender, Buffalo wings fried in butter and spices have a special connection with the New York city. It was at the Anchor Bar where Teressa Bellissimo, improvising for a group of hungry locals, cooked the first batch of the famous snack which is served with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing.
Today, chicken wings are celebrated not just in Buffalo but also nationally and throughout the month of July. The Anchor Bar meanwhile has 15 locations across the country and offers it’s succulent chicken wings with a range of sauces from mild, spicy barbeque to extreme heat.

Many popular restaurant and fried chicken chains have already announced special customer deals to celebrate the occasion.
Buffalo Wild Wings customers will be treated to six free wings with every order over $10. The offer is available to customers who dine in as well as those who order takeout either online or via the Buffalo Wild Wings App using the promotional code FREEWINGS.
Buffalo Wild Wings offer a variety of sauces to please all tastes, including: Golden Fire (hot), Honey Garlic, Lemon Pepper, Mango Habanero, BBQ Ranch and the classic Buffalo Bleu.
7-Eleven has a buy-one-get-one-free deal for rewards members, available all day at at participating stores Tuesday: the offer includes orders for eight free boneless wings or five free bone-in wings (Classic, BBQ, Honey Garlic, Buffalo, or Salt & Pepper).
Popeyes is also taking part in National Chicken Wing Day. Special deals are available all week up to Sunday. Customers who buy a 6-piece Bone-In Wings box will get another one free.
Applebee’s have a similar deal exclusively for July 29 - free orders of crispy, breaded boneless wings or classic bone-in wings with every chicken wing purchase (takeout or delivery) made via the store’s website or mobile app.
bb.q Chicken are offering a 15% discount plus free delivery (up to $12), on all orders placed through their website and mobile app at participating locations using the promo code “WING25”.
Beef ‘O’ Brady’s has a deal on traditional and boneless wings - buy 10 and get five free, buy 20 and get 10 free, or buy 30 and get 15 free (bleu cheese sauce and celery not included - the deal is on a one offer per person, per visit basis).
