National Voter Registration Day 2024: How to check if you are registered to vote
Are you signed up to vote? 1 in 4 Americans either aren’t or don’t know. On National Voter Registration Day take the time to make sure you can vote.
Every September 17, thousands of partners with the National Voter Registration Day organization, “of every stripe from all over the country,” make a push to help grow our shared democracy by getting Americans signed up to be eligible to cast a ballot in upcoming elections. Since beginning this nonpartisan civic holiday in 2012, which is dedicated to celebrating democracy, the effort has registered over 5 million people to vote.
This year there are around 16 million people who will be able to cast a ballot for the first time in the November 5 general election in the United States. But they and millions more will need to get registered first. And deadline to do so will fall as soon as the first week of October in several states.
Furthermore, you shouldn’t take for granted that you are already registered. In fact one in four Americans aren’t or don’t know if they are. So how can you find out?
