Neighbors outraged by the monstrous 3-story house built in the middle of a picturesque neighborhood: “It has no place here”
It’s a building that completely breaks with the identity of a neighborhood.
A neighbour has alarmed residents of a Virginia suburb. The reason? He has begun construction on a three-storey addition to his house, which some are calling an eyesore. The anger is not directed at the family building it, but at the county for allowing the project to go ahead.
Courtney Leonard, who lives next door to the property, told the Daily Mail: “I have been in contact with the county since early October to express my concerns about the expansion, and I want to reiterate that our view is that the responsibility for allowing things to reach this point lies with the county.”
Leonard said it came as a “surprise” and was a “concern for all the neighbours” that the family secured county approval for the renovation. One of her biggest worries is that the construction will reduce the amount of sunlight reaching her home, affecting the performance of her solar panels, as well as her neighbours’ ability to see over her privacy fence.

“When I decide to sell my house, how much value have I just lost, knowing a buyer would have to live next to that?” Leonard said. She described the structure as one that has outraged the entire neighbourhood and is radically out of keeping with the surrounding homes and the wider area.
