As is tradition every last Thursday of November, the 28th in 2024, millions of families and friends will gather throughout the United States to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. This celebration is commemorated with a traditional dinner with the star of this day, without a doubt, being the turkey.

According to a survey by YouGovAmerica, Americans’ favorite dish to celebrate Thanksgiving is the famous turkey with gravy, with 83% acceptance among families who commemorate this holiday.

How much does a turkey cost this year?

The price of a turkey varies from year to year due to inflation. For 2024, the average cost of a turkey is $2.08 per pound, according to an analysis by FinanceBuzz. This means that a 15-pound (7 kg) turkey - the most common for a Thanksgiving dinner - will cost around $31, which represents a 12% decrease from the previous year.
