Neither Donald Trump nor Taylor Swift: This was the most-viewed Wikipedia page in the U.S. in 2024
The most-viewed Wikipedia page in 2024 was not about a celebrity or a political figure, but a somber chronicle of human mortality.
Wikipedia’s annual review revealed that people spent an estimated 2.4 billion hours, equivalent to nearly 275,000 years, reading English Wikipedia in 2024.
One page in particular captured the collective curiosity of millions: the “Deaths in 2024″ list. With a staggering 44,440,344 pageviews, this somber compilation topped the charts as the most-viewed English-language Wikipedia page this year.
The page’s consistent popularity is nothing short of remarkable. Since tracking began in 2015, this annual roster of notable deaths has never fallen below third place in Wikipedia’s most-viewed rankings.
The list reflected global interests, with 10 of the top 25 articles focusing on politics in the U.S. and India. These two countries alone generated nearly half of English Wikipedia’s total pageviews.
What else charted in the top 10 most read pages?
Politics dominated the landscape, with the U.S. elections taking center stage. Vice President Kamala Harris’s page secured the second spot with nearly 29 million views, while the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election page ranked third.
The Menéndez brothers’ page surged to fourth place, driven by renewed interest from a Netflix documentary. Pop culture icons like Taylor Swift and the late Liam Payne also made appearances.
