Netanyahu postpones Gaza ceasefire deal: these are the reasons
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has announced his cabinet will not approve the Gaza cease-fire agreement due to a crisis caused by Hamas.
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed the approval of a Gaza ceasefire deal which is seen as a pivotal step toward finding a resolution to the Gaza conflict.
Netanyahu’s office said his cabinet will not convene to approve the agreement because Hamas is not honoring some parts of it.
“Hamas is reneging on the understandings and creating a last-minute crisis that is preventing an agreement,” according to a statement from the prime minister’s office, per local media reports.
“The Israeli cabinet will not convene until the mediators notify Israel that Hamas has accepted all elements of the agreement,” the statement added.
After Netanyahu’s announcement, Hamas officials denied the charges the group had reneged on parts of the deal and reiterated their desire to commit to the ceasefire agreement, per multiple media reports.

What the Gaza ceasefire deal involves
During his farewell address at the White House, President Joe Biden announced a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas. The deal was brokered with Qatar’s mediation in Doha, where the negotiations were held.
Biden and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani announced the ceasefire agreement seeking the release of 33 Israeli hostages over a period of six weeks.
In return, Israel would release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and pull out of substantial parts of Gaza.
The future of the ceasefire deal is now up in the air pending further negotiations.
